| Since it's inception in 1983, Productivity
Assignments has established itself as a management consultancy
that delivers practical, profitable and sustainable results, to clients
across the business spectrum from manufacturers to universities.
In a world of ever-increasing 'managements theories', new technologies,
personnel empowerment and a rapid change in customer demands, management
now struggles to keep abreast of the changes and to thoroughly understand
the advantages and hazards of new systems and processess.
Productivity Assignments - through
theoretical and practical knowledge - provides the functional know-how
to ensure the selection of appropriate systems and processes, and importantly,
to ensure their effective and sustainable implementation. In particular,
we provide specialist skills and training in manufacturing, distribution,
administrative processes, service and supply chain management.
Productivity Assignments have assisted
many blue-chip and private companies achieve improved production rates,
reduced work-in-progress, functional shop-floor teams, optimised personnel
usage and many other benefits.
Productivity improvements can be attained in essentially three ways:
Technological Improvement - faster, more productive machines.
(State of the art technology, robotics, computerisation, etc)
Process Improvement - finding better ways to produce (Best Practise,
layouts, method improvements, etc)
Performance Improvement - improving the performance of the operators
(teamwork, motivation, standards, man assignments, benchmarking, visual
results, quality controls, etc)
Each of these requires the effective use of technology and the
motivation and co-operation of the workforce.
In this
age of rapid technological development, it is vital that the capacity
of the workforce be developed in parallel with technology, and the essential
training be provided. A balance between man & machine must be maintained
to ensure overall productivity improvement - and ultimate success. At
Productivity Assignments we strive
for this balance hence our mission...
We have been actively involved with the Department of Trade and Industry
(Nedlac) initiatives such as the Workplace Challenge Cluster Initiative
and the DCCS Export initiative. We have provided consultancy skills and
training to participating companies assisting them with their drive towards
World Class Competiveness.
We have initiated the non-profit organisation "Best Practice Forum"
in which KwaZulu-Natal manufacturers (and those from further afield) have
the opportunity to share experiences and to listen to the lessons of leading
manufaturers from across the globe.
Productivity Assignments provides
a management consultancy services to many different industry sectors.
Our current client profile is varied and exposes us to different manufacturing
processes, manning requirements, administration systems and other aspects
